Virginia City will once again welcome hundreds of classic cars as its official kickoff location for the 40th anniversary of Hot August Nights. The celebration returns Friday, July 31, and Saturday, Aug. 1, with a two-day Show-n-Shine along historic C Street from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m each day.

Nearly 400 registered classic vehicles will line C Street as visitors explore Virginia City’s shops, restaurants, museums and saloons during one of Nevada’s most recognizable events. For more information about Hot August Nights, visit hotaugustnights.net/virginia-city/

“Hot August Nights has become a summer tradition for so many families, and we’re honored to welcome participants and visitors as they kick off this milestone 40th anniversary celebration,” said Todd Tuttle, tourism director for Virginia City. “We’re already seeing incredible momentum this year, with registration numbers way ahead of where we have ever been. We encourage visitors to ‘Stay a Spell’ by making a weekend of it, booking their lodging early and experiencing everything Virginia City has to offer beyond the car show.”

The event features a Show-n-Shine on historic C Street, which will be closed to traffic during event hours. Hot August Nights volunteer members will be on-site to assist with parking hundreds of historic gems throughout the closed area. Visitors are encouraged to stroll the main thoroughfare, admire the rows of polished cars, and take in the historic atmosphere, shops, museums and saloons that make Virginia City a uniquely Nevada destination. The celebration continues with live entertainment throughout the weekend, featuring DJs Steve West and Rich West, plus a free concert by Arizona Jones that will keep the fun going long after you’ve admired the cars.

“There isn’t a better place to begin Hot August Nights than Virginia City. With its rich history, iconic streets, and one-of-a-kind photo opportunities, it’s the perfect backdrop to kick off a celebration of classic cars, nostalgia and Hot August Nights fun,” said Lisa Jansen, executive director at Hot August Nights. “We’re excited to welcome everyone back for another unforgettable year.”
