UPDATE: Carson City Fire Department and sheriff’s deputies responded Tuesday morning to a semi hauling cement that rolled over at the Spooner Junction of I-580, US-50 and South Carson Street.
Called into dispatch just before 9:30 a.m. Carson City Fire Department is on scene and are evaluating the driver for injuries. CCFD advised they will take the driver by ground ambulance.
The vehicle is a semi pulling two trailers of dry powder cement, said Nevada Highway Patrol Public Information Officer Trooper James LaRose. The entire intersection has been closed at this time. Nevada Department of Transportation is removing a light pole that was knocked down, which may free up some northbound traffic movement.
A Carson City Sheriff’s Office deputy on scene reports that traffic will be impeded for a few hours. Motorists can expect delays. The cause is under investigation.

The intersection has had a number of crashes and rollovers, including a July 2 rollover, which caused the intersection to be closed for several hours.
There have been a number of additional incidents at the intersection of S. Carson Street and the I-580/Highway 50 to Spooner interchange. Including several that have occurred just in the last few months. Here’s a dive back into the history of the intersection and some of the issues involved, including a bridge that was never built.
Check back for updates.
