On Saturday, July 12, local fight fans will pack the Robert ‘Bob’ Crowell Multi-Purpose Athletic Center, also known as the MAC, in Carson City for Arena Wars, a high-stakes combat sports event featuring Muay Thai, MMA, and jiu-jitsu bouts with top-level talent from across the region. One of the most anticipated matchups of the night features Carson City’s own Zenon Foster, who will be fighting for the Nevada State Muay Thai Title.
Foster (6-0), an undefeated rising star known for his knockout power and surgical precision, will face Joey Claassen of Portland, Oregon. With four of his last six wins coming by KO or TKO, Zenon is aiming to extend his unbeaten record to 7-0 and bring the title home.
At just 22 years old, Zenon carries the momentum of not only his own accomplishments, but also the legacy of his older brother, Zephery Foster, the current IKF Cal-Neva Muay Thai Champion.
“I got into fighting just by following my older brother,” Zenon said in a recent interview. “At first, I’d just come by the gym to see him train. After high school, I started taking it seriously.”
Known for his length, relentless pace, and precision striking, Zenon describes his style as a mix of slick feints and close-range knee attacks. “I think my length gives me the edge,” he says. “But really it’s about seeing the opponent’s weakness and capitalizing on it.”
Despite the pressure of a title fight, Foster says this camp has been one of his best. “Mentally, I’ve been really clear — just pushing myself 100% every day. I’ve been loving it,” he said. “My brother and coach keep me accountable. They basically write the plan, and I follow it.”
When asked what fans can expect, Zenon kept it simple. “You’re gonna see some knees, some feints, and slick combos. I’ll be landing clean shots.”
