Every holiday season, thousands of families visit the Virginia & Truckee Railway for a festive holiday train experience. To help bring those experiences to life, the Virginia & Truckee Railway is currently accepting proposals from qualified vendors for two service opportunities supporting its 2026 holiday operations.

Two contract opportunities are currently available:

The selected photography vendor will manage the guest photo experience, while the decorating contractor will be responsible for creating and maintaining the festive holiday atmosphere throughout the Eastgate Depot.

These opportunities are ideal for experienced photographers, event professionals, holiday decorating companies, and seasonal event service providers interested in participating in one of Northern Nevada’s most beloved holiday traditions.

Proposal submissions for both opportunities are due July 8, 2026.

About the V&T Railway Commission

Forged in the heat of Nevada’s silver boom, the Virginia & Truckee Railroad Co. began operations in 1869 as the link between the Comstock Lode mines and the outside world. Known as the “Queen of the Short Lines,” these trains carried ore, freight, and passengers—everything a growing frontier town needed.

When the last original train rolled in 1950, these rails could have fallen silent forever. But they didn’t. Thanks to decades of tireless work by train enthusiasts, state agencies, historians, and community members, V&T Railway was brought back to life piece by piece. Locomotives were restored, track was rebuilt, and history was preserved in the hopes that coming generations would continue to create stories that stand the test of time.
