Sassafras Eclectic Food Joint hosted on Sunday a drag brunch as an opening act for the main Pride event to be held later this summer.  The celebration featured bingo, drag runway acts performed by the Haus of Vertigo and food and drinks.

The celebration was to pass the torch from Sassafras, which has been organizing Pride events, to Carson City’s Brewery Arts Center. Started by the team at Sassafras nine years ago, the main event will be held at the BAC on Sept. 13, 2025.  The intention is to move the main Pride celebration back into the month of June in 2026.

The event partners with and benefits the PFLAG Carson non-profit organization. It will build relationships with other Pride organizers from Reno to Gerlach and Tahoe to Quincy.

The BAC team will head up “Nevada Pride — A Capital City Celebration” in September to honor the LGBTQ+ community, promote inclusivity and foster a sense of belonging for all.
