Brewfest returned to Carson City Saturday on Curry Street as hundreds turned out to sample the best beers and brews from across the country.

The capital city’s own Shoe Tree Brewing Company, an all-new brewery still under construction at the Carson Hot Springs Resort in Northeast Carson City, was on hand to offer visitors a sampling of its brews, specially made with hot springs mineral water harvested from underground springs at the resort.

Brothers Jeff and Paul Young started Shoe Tree late last year after spending some time at other breweries in the area, including High Sierra Brewing Company, which once occupied the space that, until recently, had been used by Lake Tahoe Brewing Company.

The Youngs served guests from behind the counter of their booth at Brewfest Saturday, along with a couple dozen other brewing companies both from around the region and elsewhere.

Hundreds gathered along Curry Street to sample fine beers and brews, visit, listen to live DJ music, and indulge in good eats from local area food trucks, as well as barbecue served up by The Rotary Club.

The Rotary Club fired up its smoker Saturday and set dozens of chicken wings aflame to satisfy the appetites of visitors to the event it helped to sponsor this weekend.
