Caps, gowns and smiles filled the hallways of elementary schools in Carson City Tuesday as graduating seniors from Carson High returned to their former campuses for the annual Grad Walk celebration.

The tradition allowed seniors to revisit the schools where their educational journeys began, while being welcomed by cheering students, teachers and staff. Younger students lined hallways, holding signs, offering high-fives and applauding as seniors made their way through the buildings.

For many graduates, the event was a chance to reconnect with former teachers and reflect on the experiences that helped shape them into the young adults they are today. Teachers who once taught the students in elementary school were able to celebrate their accomplishments and wish them well as they prepare for graduation.

“Seeing our graduates walk through these hallways again is a meaningful reminder of the incredible growth that takes place between their first day in kindergarten and their final day in twelfth grade,” said Andrew Feuling, superintendent for the Carson City School District. “It also shows our youngest learners what can be achieved through commitment, hard work and the support of a caring school community.”

The Grad Walk serves as a bridge between generations of students, connecting graduating seniors with those who are just beginning their academic careers. For elementary students, the visit offers a tangible look at an important milestone and reinforces the value of education and perseverance.

As the Class of 2026 prepares to cross the graduation stage this Friday evening, the annual tradition provided an opportunity to celebrate their accomplishments and recognize the educators and schools that played a role in their success.

The Friday ceremony begins at 7 p.m., under the lights at the sports complex. Carson High School’s Silver Campus graduation ceremony will also be combined with the main campus’ event.
