UPDATE 5:11PM: Smoke from the landfill fire Monday afternoon in East Carson City has eased up considerably, as seen from the alertwildfire.org camera here. Carson City Fire Department responded at around 4:15 p.m. to the fire.

Carson City Fire Department has sent multiple trucks Monday afternoon to the Carson City landfill off of Highway 50 East for another dump fire.

Reported at around 4:15 p.m., the fire at the landfill is putting off plumes of smoke. There appears to be no threat to property at this time. Engines and water tenders were called to the scene.

There have been multiple landfill fires over the years, many having ignited by combustible material, such as batteries, thrown into waste.
