Carson City native and Nevada GOP Chairman Mark Amodei filed this morning to run for the open Nevada Congressional District 2 seat previously held by now-Sen. Dean Heller.
Also filing this morning were Nevada Treasurer Kate Marshall and fellow Democrat Nancy Price, who ran for the seat in 2010. On the Republican side, State Sen. Greg Brower has also filed to run for the seat. Also, U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Eric Hintermeyer filed as a Republican for the race this morning while wearing his uniform. RGJ reporter Ray Hagar said that Hintermeyer didn’t answer any questions from reporters at the Secretary of State’s office, including where he was from.
There are three other possible candidates who have expressed a desire to run for this seat who have not filed yet: Republicans Sharron Angle and Kirk Lippold, and Democrat Jill Derby.
