A 25-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday in the 200 block of Sara Drive on suspicion of felony domestic battery with strangulation, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Taken into custody was Franciso Gaona. According to the arrest report, the man called 911 at 6:14 p.m. to advise he had grabbed his wife by the throat during an argument and wanted to own up to his mistake, according to the arrest report.

Deputies arrived and began speaking with the man who was cooperative. He stated he and his wife had both been drinking beer. The two got into an argument, and while she screamed at him, he said he lost control of himself and grabbed her around the neck with both hands. He told the officer he had his hands around her neck for a few seconds and then retreated to the backyard to call 911 on himself, the arrest report states.

He said while he was in the backyard, she came up behind him and pushed him causing him to scrape his left shin, the arrest report states. The victim at first denied the incident, and then stated she deserved it for screaming at the man. She told the deputy she did not want to write a statement about what happened a refused a domestic violence card. She pleaded with the deputy to not take the man to jail.
The suspect repeated his requests to be arrested, the report states. Bail: $15,000.

In other arrests:
— A 21-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday, 6 p.m. in the 3000 block of North Roop Street on gross misdemeanor suspicion of false imprisonment and a misdemeanor warrant for violation of pre-trial supervision, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched at 5:34 p.m. to the 600 block of Hot Springs Road for a report of a domestic dispute.

A deputy spoke with the man’s mother who said that she and her son got into an argument and that he threw a padlock and broke her television. She stated that she tried to leave the home before the situation escalated but that he stood behind her car to prevent her from leaving and then grabbed the door so she cold not back out. She stated her son then grabbed her cell phone out of her hands when she said she was going to call 911, the arrest report states.

A computer records check showed the man had a confirmed warrant for violation of pre-trial supervision. He was arrested on suspicion of false imprisonment and the warrant. Bail: $5,500.

Meanwhile, the man’s mother was subsequently arrested on misdemeanor suspicion of domestic battery after she admitted to slapping her son across the face. She told deputies that her son did not strike her at any time. Bail: $3,137.

— A 55-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday, 10:18 p.m. in the 3200 block of Imperial Way on a misdemeanor warrant, violation of a suspended sentence, issued out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.

— A 55-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday, 3:38 p.m. in the 2500 block of Kit Sierra Way on misdemeanor suspicion of reckless driving, driving without a valid license, no insurance and a failure to appear warrant out of Nye County.

According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the area regarding a reckless driver. Deputies met with the suspect who stated he had just got his Camaro running and was showing it off for his child.

The deputy observed multiple tire scrubs on the roadway going south into the intersection of Sherman and Kit Sierra. The man stated the tire scrubs were from his vehicle. The man did not have a valid license, vehicle insurance and the registration on the vehicle had expired in 2011. It was discovered he had an active, confirmed warrant out of Nye County for speeding, driving without a driver’s license and failure to appear, the arrest report states. Bail: $2,266.

— A 51-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Monday, 3:41 p.m. in the 2500 block of Kit Sierra Way on a misdemeanor warrant, violation of a suspended sentence, issued through Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.
