Carson City, Nev. (May 9, 2025) — Bordewich Bray Elementary School in the Carson City School District took Teacher Appreciation Week to star-studded heights this year, treating its dedicated educators to a glamorous “red carpet” welcome as they arrived at school.

The event transformed the school’s employee entrances into movie premiere-worthy walk, complete with a red carpet, flashing cameras, walk-up music, individual “Academy Award” trophies, microphone interviews and cheering students and staff.

“It was amazing seeing them rolling in from the parking lot in their finest apparel and red-carpet attire,” said Cheryl Richetta, principal at Bordewich Bray Elementary. “This week has been all about recognizing the incredible commitment, talent and heart our teachers bring to their classrooms every single day.”

Teachers were greeted with the Hollywood treatment—hamming it up, posing for photos and basking in applause from their students and peers.

“We wanted to make them feel like the true stars they are,” Richetta continued. “This has been a fun and meaningful way to show our gratitude.”

The winners of our Red Carpet walk at Bordewich Bray Elementary were the following:

  • Best Dressed:  Maria Cortez
  • Best Celebrity Impersonation:  Haley Brown as Taylor Swift
  • Best Red Carpet Walk – The ASP entourage – Irma Moreno as Audrey Hepburn and Janet Ingram as security, Debbie GutzmannKathy Brown, and Rachel Rogers as the entourage

Throughout the week, similar appreciation activities including catered meals, dress-up days, themed treats, gifts or giveaways were observed for teachers at other schools within the district. The initiative, coordinated by school administrators, parent-teacher organizations and student leadership groups, aimed to make every educator feel appreciated and seen.
