Carson Tahoe Health is proud to announce the successful completion of its first surgery using the newly acquired Intuitive da Vinci 5 robotic surgical system. Performed by Dr. Kraig Knoll, this milestone procedure marks a new era in advanced surgical care for the Quad-Counties region.
The da Vinci 5 is Intuitive’s most advanced and integrated robotic-assisted platform — designed to transform surgery by enabling better outcomes, greater efficiency, and actionable insights. The system can be used for minimally invasive procedures across a variety of specialties, including urology, gynecology, thoracic, and general surgery.
“The da Vinci 5 allows for greater surgical precision, reduced blood loss, improved pain control, and faster recovery times for patients,” said Dr. Ryan Powers, a board-certified urologist with Carson Tahoe Medical Group. “Its advanced design enhances the overall surgical experience, offering improved ergonomics and visualization that support optimal performance in the operating room.”
The da Vinci 5 offers enhanced precision, improved visualization, and a greater range of motion for surgeons, allowing for highly sophisticated minimally invasive procedures. With this investment, Carson Tahoe Health continues its commitment to bringing innovative healthcare solutions to the community it proudly serves.
Carson Tahoe is honored to lead the way in offering Northern Nevada and the Quad-Counties region advanced minimally invasive surgical options.
