A Reno woman was arrested Saturday for suspicion of felony evading and eluding following an 8.5-mile vehicle pursuit with deputies, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report.

Patricia Ariel Daley-Harms was taken into custody following an investigation. She was also booked for misdemeanor DUI of a controlled or prohibited substance, reckless driving with disregard of safety of persons or property and destroying or injuring property.

According to the booking report, at 7:23 a.m. Saturday a deputy was called to the area of US-50 West and Golf Club Drive for a report of a wrong way driver, going eastbound in the westbound lane.

Deputies arrived in the area and staged at the Park and Ride. While waiting in the area to locate the vehicle, a Douglas County sheriff’s deputy arrived and advised the vehicle may have been the same one DCSO was in pursuit with earlier and was seen driving in the wrong direction in the Lake Tahoe area.

As the deputy waited for the suspect vehicle, a small blue Mazda was seen driving east down US-50. The Douglas deputy said he thought this was the vehicle that eluded them earlier. The Carson City deputy pulled behind the vehicle to check the license plate and saw it was driving between the turn lanes and straight lanes onto South Carson Street.

The vehicle then rolled through the northbound stop light (red light) at Spooner Junction. The CCSO deputy activated their red and blue flashing overhead lights and siren to initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle continued to go northbound on I-580 not stopping for the traffic stop, the report states.

The deputy advised dispatch the vehicle wouldn’t stop and began a pursuit. The suspect vehicle continued north on I-580 reaching speeds of more than 90 mph at multiple times. The vehicle would then slam on the brakes in what the deputy believed was an attempt to get them to rear end the vehicle. Each time the vehicle came to a stop it would start driving again.

Throughout the pursuit the vehicle made several lane changes close to other cars on the road and drove in both lanes of traffic and onto the shoulder. The vehicle then took the Arrowhead exit and drove east on Arrowhead Drive.

Right after the vehicle exited the freeway it was going around 60 mph on Arrowhead Drive, which is a 35 mph zone and ran another vehicle off the road and onto the shoulder. The suspect vehicle then continued to drive at a high rate of speed east on Arrowhead, failing to stop at the four-way stop sign intersections at Arrowhead and Emerson Way and then also at Arrowhead and Goni Road, the report states.

The vehicle slowed down in the area of Arrowhead Drive and Ryan Way, where deputies and a watch commander were able to box the car in. The suspect vehicle then went into reverse in an attempt to escape and then drove forward into the push bar/front bumper of a patrol vehicle.

At this time the driver and sole occupant, Patricia Daley-Harms, was given multiple verbal commands to show her hands and exit the vehicle, which she did not follow. She was eventually pulled from the vehicle by multiple deputies and handcuffed. The length of the pursuit was 8.5 miles.

While being removed, the woman called the deputies random words and threatened to urinate on them. She was taken into custody. While speaking to her, the arresting deputy saw signs of impairment including random, scattered speech, her mouth was dry and white crusted around her lips and she had a hard time focusing on what the deputy was saying. Based on her driving pattern and vehicle, the deputy asked if she would submit to a preliminary breath test. She provided a sample of .000, the report states.

The deputy asked if she would voluntarily consent to a blood draw. She said yes. While transporting the woman, she made several spontaneous utterances about taking kratom. She also said something about being in Reno. When the deputy told her she was in Carson City, she seemed surprised, the report states.

At jail she was read the request for voluntary evidence. She agreed to a voluntary blood sample. Bail: $50,000.
