Local maker and farmers market season is getting underway in Douglas County, with several recurring markets, fairs and vendors events planned across Gardnerville, Genoa and Minden through the spring and summer.

Eastern Sierra Feed Farmers Market
Date: Select Saturdays from April through October; remaining dates listed are May 9, July 11, Aug. 8, Sept. 12 and Oct. 10
Location: Eastern Sierra Feed, 1245 Waterloo Lane, Gardnerville
Details: This farmers market features local produce, baked goods, drinks, woodworking, candles, paintings, flowers, jewelry and other handmade goods. The market runs from 3 to 7 p.m. on select Saturdays.

Market Day at The Valley Merc
Date: May 2, June 6, July 18, Aug. 1 and Sept. 12
Location: The Valley Merc, 1420 Highway 395, downtown Gardnerville
Details: This once-a-month indoor and outdoor Saturday market features local beef, poultry and eggs, fresh-baked goods, seasonal produce, handcrafted goods and crafts, and breakfast and drink items. The market runs from 8 a.m. to noon.

Just a Drop-In Gardnerville Farmers Market
Date: Wednesdays, May 6 through Sept. 16
Location: Heritage Park, 1447 Courthouse Alley, Gardnerville
Details: The weekly farmers market includes fresh produce, eggs, honey, handmade goods, food, drinks and local vendors. The market runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and also includes community activities, including storytime on Wednesdays.

Hot Air For Hope Carson Valley Balloon Festival
Date: May 15-17
Location: Lampe Park, 1324 Waterloo Lane, Gardnerville
Details: The weekend festival includes hot air balloon launches, competitions, live music, local vendors, food trucks, art performances and family activities. Balloon launches are planned for 6 a.m. each morning, weather permitting.

Genoa Country Marketplace
Date: Sundays, May 17 through Sept. 20
Location: Genoa Town Park, Genoa
Details: This weekly farmers market features farm-fresh produce, baked goods, honey, home products, herbs, crafts, meat and dairy items. The market runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Esmeralda Farmers Market
Date: Tuesdays, May 19 through Sept. 29
Location: Esmeralda Avenue, downtown Minden
Details: This Tuesday evening market features local fare from the Carson Valley, including local craft vendors and homegrown food. The market runs from 4 to 8 p.m.

Nevada Agricultural Fair
Date: July 16-19
Location: Douglas County Fairgrounds, 920 Pinenut Road, Gardnerville
Details: The Nevada Agricultural Fair focuses on farming, homesteading, livestock, gardening and agriculture. The fair includes competitions, wildlife and horticultural photography, youth activities, conservation displays, food and merchandise vendors.

Kid’s Day — Back to School
Date: Aug. 23
Location: Minden Park, Minden
Details: This end-of-summer community event includes children’s activities, vendors, food trucks, a mobile bar and live music. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
