Gusty winds and thunderstorms have moved into Douglas County and Carson City area Sunday afternoon. The storms may also have impacts at Lake Tahoe, Lyon, Storey and Washoe counties.
As of around 2:30 p.m. the National Weather Service’s Doppler radar is tracking a strong thunderstorm moving north from Douglas County into Carson City. The storm is bringing wind gusts up to 40 mph with half-inch size hail.
At Lake Tahoe, wind gusts of 50 mph to 55 mph have been recorded by the National Weather Service.
Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible, NWS forecasters said.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
Showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue this afternoon and tonight.
