By Elinor Bugli — Attention musicians: The Carson Chamber Singers, directed by Gary Schwartz, and the Carson City Symphony, conducted by David Bugli, are beginning rehearsals for the Pops Party concert on June 8 at the Governor’s Mansion and for July 4 at Mormon Station State Park in Genoa.

Carson Chamber Singers rehearsals are Tuesdays beginning May 6, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at the LDS Church at 411 N. Saliman Road, Carson City, just across Robinson St. from Carson High School. The group is open the singers high-school age and above. Repertoire will include songs by American composers and patriotic selections for July 4.

Carson City Symphony rehearsals are Wednesdays beginning May 7, from 6:20 to 8:30 p.m., at the Carson High School band/orchestra room, 1111 N. Saliman Road in Carson City. When school lets out in June, rehearsals will be at another location.

The Symphony is open to string players at any time without audition, and to other instrumentalists when positions are available. Current openings are for strings, clarinet, oboe, and some brass. Music will include show tunes, marches, and patriotic selections for July 4.
