Carson City, Nev. (May 1, 2025) — The Carson City School District is proud to recognize Trustees with the Carson City Schools Foundation, and Kirk Caraway and Jenny Treece with Carson Now as May’s Community Partners of the Month. Carson City Schools Foundation was recognized as a Legacy Level partner at Carson High School – Pioneer Campus, and Carson Now was recognized as a Champion Level partner at Carson High School.

As part of its Community Partner Program, the school district features a local business or organization each month for their commitment in helping schools and children have better opportunities and experiences in alignment with the district’s Strategic Plan goals.

Carson City Schools Foundation is considered a Community Partner at the Legacy Level at Carson High School – Pioneer Campus because they support four or more Strategic Plan goals regularly, including:

  • Providing individual mini grants to teachers to help them better provide educational services to students (Goal 1);
  • Providing students with materials to design, create and demonstrate engineering knowledge and skills through projects (Goal 2);
  • Expanding student’s physical wellbeing with the purchase of a new tetherball court and supplies (Goal 4); and,
  • Providing funding for community-based instruction, which is geared to help students purchase meals and services outside of the school setting (Goal 5).

Carson Now is considered a Community Partner at the Champion Level at Carson High School because they supported three or more Strategic Plan goals with the development of the Entrepreneurs in Action business magazine, including:

  • Developing a culture of shared leadership, collaboration and decision-making for staff and teachers (Goal 1);
  • Allowing students and teachers hands-on experience in marketing, sales, interview techniques, journalism, graphic design and business management (Goal 2); and,
  • Providing students with timely opportunities for in-school and extended school programs that enhance critical thinking and problem-solving skills, improve academic performance, emphasized life skills and allow for hands-on application of skills (Goal 5).

The Community Partner Recognition System aims to build a stronger, more engaged community dedicated to the success and well-being of its students.

Additionally, it acknowledges and celebrates the valuable contributions of our community partners as they align with the goals found in the Carson City School District Strategic Plan Empower Carson City 2027
