The Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department is hosting the Carson River Open House tonight, Wednesday, April 30, 2025, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Carson City Community Center theater lobby.

The Carson River Open House aims to seek community input on the Carson River Master Plan, which was originally published in 1996 and is due for an update.

Through the development of a community-driven master plan, Carson City seeks to manage, protect, interpret, and enhance the natural and recreational resources of the Carson River into the future. Carson City has been working with the National Park Service — Rivers, Trails and Conservation Assistance program to facilitate this master plan update.

In addition to discussing the Carson River Master Plan, the Carson River Open House will also feature educational tables with partnering agencies from the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection, Carson Water Subconservancy District, Carson City Stormwater Division, and River Wranglers.

Our partners will share information about water quality, mercury, flooding, and other important topics related to the Carson River. The community is welcome to join this family-friendly event and opportunity for kids to help design a Carson River mascot!
