By Scott Stevenson — SB 435 is being sponsored by a group of Nevada legislators — including the Senate Majority Leader — who have accepted over $50,000 from Big Tobacco companies.

The bill would ban 99% of vapor products and create a monopoly for tobacco giants like Altria and RJ Reynolds.

The American Heart Association and the Nevada Tobacco Control and Smoke-Free Coalition both oppose the bill, recognizing that it’s not about public health — it’s about eliminating safer alternatives and protecting Big Tobacco’s profits.

If passed, SB 435 would force the closure of thousands of small businesses across Nevada, devastating local economies, killing jobs, and slashing millions in state and local tax revenues — all while benefiting some of the world’s largest tobacco corporations.

Nevadans deserve transparency.
Nevadans deserve better than SB 435.
