On April 10, 2026, at approximately 2:16 p.m., the Nevada Highway Patrol, a division of the Nevada State Police, responded to a crash at US-50 and the intersection of Riverboat Road, in Lyon County, Nev.

The preliminary investigation indicates a 2017 Toyota Rav4, was traveling southbound on Riverboat Road on to US-50. A 2017 Ford F-250 was traveling eastbound on US50 approaching the intersection with Riverboat Road.

The driver of the Toyota Rav4 failed to yield the right of way from the stop sign on to US-50. The front of the Ford F-250 struck the side of the Toyota Rav4. The Toyota Rav4 came to rest across the number one and two travel lanes of eastbound US-50. The Ford F-250 came to rest on the right dirt shoulder of eastbound US50.

The driver of the Toyota Rav4, Samuel Diaz, a 66-year-old-male from Dayton, Nev., was pronounced deceased on scene by medical personnel.

Both the driver and passenger of the Ford-250 were transported to a local area hospital with reportedly non-life threating injuries.

The Nevada Highway Patrol Major Incident Reconstruction Team is investigating this crash.
