The Carson Country U.S. Bowling Congress honored seven local bowlers Saturday, each being inducted into the Carson Country U.S. Bowling Congress Hall of Fame.
Jason Peters was inducted to the Carson Country U.S. Bowling Congress for Superior Performance category. During the last 19 years, Peters has bowled fifteen 300 games, four 800 series, and has received five 11-In-a-Row awards. Peters has placed first in seven CCUSBC tournaments over the years. He has consistently averaged 220.
William Forsythe was inducted in the Love of Bowling category. โCowboyโ Billโs lifelong passion for bowling began in 1966 when he started bowling with his co-workers. Forsytheโs simple philosophy of always having fun has fueled his desire to bowl. For more than 35 years as a dedicated member of CCUSBC, he has inspired countless others to discover their own love for the sport.
Gay Edinger was also inducted in the Love of Bowling category. Edinger has bowled for more than 30 years and is currently the longest active bowler on her league. She is an inspiration to all around her that at any age you can bowl. She encouraged the activities director where she lives to bring the residents bowling.
Drake Dembke was honored as the Male Bowler of the Year. Dembke bowled a 298 on his way to first place singles in the Menโs Invitational Trios tournament. In the City Open, he came in first place with his doubles partner and second in All Events. Dembke bowled his first 800 series during this year. He had a 224 average, which was the third highest in the association.
Cori Brennan was honored as the Female Bowler of the Year. Brennan was a member of the first place team in the Womenโs Trios tournament and took first place in scratch and handicap singles. She also took second place in the March Madness doubles tournament.
Xander Wass earned the inaugural Youth Male Bowler of the Year. Wass placed first in the Youth City tournament in doubles and third in singles. His effort during the city tournament also earned him first place in the All Events category. Was also placed second in his division in the Super Super Tournament. Wass received a $100 scholarship with this award.
Temprance McMillen is the first Youth Female Bowler of the Year. McMillen placed second in her division during the Northern Nevada Youth Masters tournament. During Youth City tournament, she was a member of the first place team and first place doubles team. She also placed second in singles. This great effort earned McMillen first place in All Events category during Youth City as well. McMillen received a $100 scholarship with this award.
