A 21-year-old man was arrested June 25 for suspicion of misdemeanor reckless driving with disregard to safety of person or property, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report.
A deputy was stationary at the intersection of Parkland Avenue and 5th Street and observed a vehicle approach the intersection. The driver approached the stop sign and did not stop behind the limit line. He also did not use a turn signal to make a left turn on Fifth Street, the report states.
Due to the officer working on another case, they did not intend to stop the driver for the traffic infraction. What caught the deputy’s attention, however, was that the driver took off at a high rate of speed as he made the left turn onto Fifth. His rear tires nearly broke loose at the speed he was driving. Due to the exhibition of speed, the deputy traveled behind him and attempted to catch up to the driver who was going approximately 80 mph, the report states.
The deputy caught up to the driver at the intersection of Fifth and Roop after the driver was stopped at a red light. When the light turned green the suspect driver was tailgating another vehicle in front of him.
Based on the infractions, the deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver and asked him to exit the vehicle. He was arrested for suspicion of reckless driving. The suspect advised he did not have a driver’s license, insurance or registration in the vehicle. He told the deputy that he has never had a driver’s license and informed the deputy he just turned 21, the report states.
The deputy attempted to run a records check on him with his name and date of birth. The deputy was able to get a picture of his identification card that confirmed he did not have a driver’s license, according to the report.
He was booked for reckless driving, not having a driver’s license, insurance and registration. Bail: $890.

— A 30-year-old Carson City man was arrested June 26 for a misdemeanor outside agency warrant issued out of Douglas County. Bail: $3,000.
— A 33-year-old Reno man turned himself into the sheriff’s office June 25 for a misdemeanor warrant. No bail amount listed.
