At approximately 9:21 a.m. on April 17, 2025, a Carson City Sheriff’s deputy contacted occupants of a vehicle parked in a casino parking lot in downtown Carson City. The initial contact was consensual and did not involve any lawful violations.
The vehicle was occupied by Alexander Allinger in the driver’s seat and a female in the passenger seat. Both people in the vehicle voluntarily provided their identification to the deputy. While the deputy was verifying the information, a second (Traffic Enforcement) deputy arrived at the scene to assist.
Deputies were informed by (dispatch) radio that the male occupant was the subject of a felony warrant issued out of Arizona. As the officers took steps to take him into custody, the suspect fled on foot toward a residential area. Both deputies pursued the suspect on foot to a parking lot about one block away, where he presented with a handgun. Shots were fired in the parking lot and the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 9:34 a.m. No other injuries were reported.

The deceased suspect is identified as a 35-year-old Alexander Allinger. His last known residence was documented in Welton, Yuma County, Arizona. The warrant identified the suspect as a Parole Violator from Arizona with an original aggravated assault offense. The (transient) female identified as the driver of the vehicle was released at the scene by Douglas County Sheriff’s Office detectives.
This incident is being investigated by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. Both Deputies involved have been placed on a standard administrative leave.
