A 37-year-old Carson City woman was arrested April 9 for suspicion of two counts misdemeanor domestic battery, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report.

At around 6 a.m. deputies were dispatched to the 3300 block of South Carson Street for a report of an active domestic battery.

The víctim and reporting party told dispatch that her stepmother had hit her and her father and that they had separated themselves from each other. As deputies arrived, the daughter and father were waiting outside.

Deputies made contact with the daughter who said she went to her father’s home because she had been in a fight with her boyfriend in Reno the night before. She said she went to a casino with her stepmother and then returned home where they argued with one another over approximately $300 taken out of a bank account, the report states.

While they were arguing, the suspect pushed the step daughter in her chest, which started a fight. She said her father tried to break it up, where the stepmother kicked her father in the chest. A deputy observed a small laceration on the reporting party’s neck. She said it was caused by her step mother who was fighting with her.

Deputies spoke with the father, who said he did not know who started the fight but that he tried to break it up. While doing so he said his wife kicked him in the chest with her foot. Deputies inspected the man’s chest and saw a small, reddish mark on his chest that was consistent with being kicked. The officer noticed an odor of alcohol on both the stepdaughter and father.

Officers then spoke with the suspect. She said she and her stepdaughter returned home and started to drink. They got into a verbal argument about their finances. During the argument, the suspect said the step daughter interjected herself and started to defend her father. She stated the stepdaughter got near her, and at first stated the daughter pushed first. Officers confronted her about who pushed who first because it didn’t match what the stepdaughter said. The deputy asked the woman to be honest.

She stated she wanted to be honest and said she did push her stepdaughter first because she wanted to get away from her. The two got into a pushing match with each other, she said. The suspect also had an odor of alcohol coming from her person when she spoke. The report states the suspect had the means and opportunity to walk away from the argument but decide to escalate it, and did so by pushing her husband, who she said was trying to break up the fight.

Officer determined the stepmother was the primary physical aggressor, for pushing her stepdaughter and kicking her husband in the chest. She was arrested. Bail: $3,137.
