For the first time, Carson City will host Competencia #1 del Caballo Bailador de Nevada, a horse dancing competition. This first-of-its-kind event in Carson City includes horse dancing, live music from four different bands and mariachis, open dancing and more.

The event takes place at the Fuji Park Arena Barn on Saturday, June 27 from 2-6 p.m. Children 12 and under are free and tickets and more information can be found on the events page at visitcarsoncity.com/events/caballo-bailador.

“Hosting Competencia del Caballo Bailador in Carson City for the first time is a privilege,” said David Peterson, executive director for Visit Carson City. “This event celebrates the artistry of dancing horses and the traditions of Hispanic horsemanship passed down through generations. With live mariachi, food, family and an incredible showcase of skill, it will be a special day for Carson City and we hope it becomes a celebration our community looks forward to year after year.”

Competencia del Caballo Bailador will feature over 40 horses and their charros (riders) across various types of events where judges will evaluate the quality and rhythm of the horse’s gait. Attendees are able to get up close with horses and charros, ask questions and learn more about the event. The event will also feature live music from various bands and mariachis, open dancing and more. Tickets start at $45.50 and children under 12 are free.
