A 42-year-old man was arrested early Tuesday morning for felony suspicion of attempted burglary and other charges after he was located at Tractor Supply Company on East William Street, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Billy Ray Henderson, a transient, was taken into custody at 4:54 a.m. He also faces gross misdemeanor charges of destruction of property, possession of burglary tools, misdemeanor theft and being an ex-felon failing to register.

According to the booking report, deputies were called at 4:12 a.m. to Tractor Supply for a reported burglary motion alarm that had been activated on the south side of the store.

Deputies drove on scene and observed the suspect walking north from the building. The man had multiple bulges protruding from his clothing. A deputy stopped the suspect and asked him where he was coming from. Henderson stated he was coming from the south side of the building.

He voluntarily said he found a pair of pliers and picked them up in the area where there was the motion alarm, the arrest report states. The officer searched the man and located knives in the man’s right pants pocket, a pair of thin rubber coated gloves, a pair of pliers, a headlamp in which the suspect said he used it to walk around.

The deputy asked the man why he tried to break into the Tractor Supply. The suspect became nervous and stated that he was sleeping near the facility and was walking around behind it to find water, the report states.

A criminal history review revealed he had multiple prior charges of shoplifting, burglary, possession of burglary tools, theft and destruction of property. He was read his Miranda rights and he stated multiple times he did not ask for his rights. The deputy read his rights sentence by sentence again, when the man interrupted and stated he understood and had been read his rights a million times, the arrest report states.

Further review of items found on Henderson included a lineman style pair of pliers with sharp wire cutting blades. The pliers appeared to have fresh dents and dings on them, and the wire cutters appeared freshly used. A nylon bag had been concealed in his right jacket arm. A wallet with a different person’s Wisconsin driver’s license was located in Henderson’s right rear pants pocket. He voluntarily stated he found the ID a while ago, the arrest report states.

A store manager arrived on scene and stated the rear doors had been damaged heavily and they were not damaged previously. The damage was observed to match that of pilers prying back on the metal. The manager also stated the motion alarm was tripped by a person who apparently placed an object for stepping on beside a barbed wire fence around the property, cut the fence, hopped over it and tripped the alarm. Total value of property damage was between $250 and $5,000, according to the arrest report.

The man was arrested and became uncooperative. In the patrol car he repeatedly cursed at the officer and said he didn’t do anything. Bail: $25,879.
