Carson City firefighters and the occupants of a town home knocked down a small kitchen fire Monday afternoon in the 1100 block of South Nevada Street.

According to dispatch, callers reported flames visible and an evacuation was in progress. Firefighters were called to the fire at 3:05 p.m. Arriving firefighters and the occupants were able to knock down the fire before it spread. The fire was fully extinguished and determined to have been started by cooking oil on a stove, according to firefighters on scene.
