— A 34-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Tuesday for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI, destruction of property, hit and run, leaving the scene of an accident and careless driving.

According to the CCSO booking report, at around 7:20 p.m. a deputy was dispatched to a convenience store in the 1500 block of Fairview Drive regarding a vehicle that had crashed into the side of the building and was attempting to leave.

A deputy arrived and made contact with witnesses on scene who gave a description of the vehicle and plate. Witnesses reported the vehicle was swerving then ran over a speed limit sign before crashing into the building. The deputy took photos and statements from witnesses.

The deputy then began to canvass the area in an attempt to locate the vehicle. Traffic cameras revealed the vehicle was last seen westbound on Fairview near Butti. Dispatch then received additional 911 calls reporting the same vehicle, a green Ford F-150 with matching license plates, heading south.

The vehicle was stopped at the intersection of Saliman and Como streets, appearing to have run over the curb. The vehicle was still running when the deputy approached and observed the suspect sitting in the driver’s seat with the keys in the ignition. The woman then opened the door and turned off the vehicle. As her foot came off the brake, the vehicle rolled forward. The deputy could smell alcohol coming from her breath and observed she had red, watery eyes and slurred speech, the report states.

The deputy asked her to step out of the vehicle. They observed the woman walk with a staggered gait. For safety reasons, the deputy instructed her to sit on the curb. She had difficulty sitting, swaying back and forth and at one point fell over.

The deputy requested the Carson City Fire Department to respond due to any injuries sustained in the crash. The deputy asked her what was going on, she began to cry and stated she wanted to go home.

The officer asked if she needed medical attention, which she denied stating instead that she was going to run. She attempted to stand but fell again. The fire department arrived and cleared her of any medical issues.

The deputy asked her if she was willing to submit to a preliminary breath test or standardized field sobriety tests. She agreed but later refused stating that she would “fight tooth and nail,” the report states.

Once at the hospital, a warrant for a blood test was approved by a Carson City judge. Bail: $1,137.
