Here are some photos of the moon from Carson City on Monday night, ahead of Tuesday’s full “supermoon” also called the “pink moon,” which astronomers say will be the biggest and brightest of the year. As we are isolated indoors, you may want to step outside for a view of this one.

The Moon will be full on Tuesday night, April 7, 2020, appearing opposite the Sun (in Earth-based longitude) beginning at around 7:35 Pacific Time. The Moon will appear full for about three days around this time, beginning (which began Monday night) and extending through Thursday morning.

The National Weather Service forecast tonight around western Nevada is for partly cloudy skies. Let’s hope the skies are clear enough for this celestial eye candy.

This full Moon will be slightly closer to the Earth (about 0.1%) than the March full Moon was, so this will be the “most super” of the full supermoons this year, according to NASA.

In the second photo submitted by reader Brian DiViccaro, he took them with his phone looking through binoculars.
