Carson City, Nev. (April 3, 2025) — The Carson City School District is pleased to honor school librarians this April during National School Library Month and observe National School Librarian Day tomorrow, April 4, 2025.
National School Library Month is a time to highlight the essential role school libraries and librarians play in transforming learning, promoting literacy and strengthening the school community. National School Librarian Day is celebrated annually on April 4, a day to recognize the vital role school librarians play in supporting student learning. Carson City School District recognizes school librarians who promote literary appreciation through school libraries, empower students to develop critical thinking and foster a love of lifelong learning.

Whether within the school or across a virtual environment, Carson City School District’s three credentialed library media specialists and seven classified library technicians offer support, resources and tools to bridge achievement gaps, develop agency and strengthen the learning culture. Carson City School District library staff help inspire a love of literacy and empower students to be curious thinkers and life-long learners, who can find and use reliable resources and information in meaningful ways.

School Librarians support and serve their school community in a number of ways, such as:
- Instructing learners as they navigate and master a full range of research, media literacy, information literacy and digital literacy skills.
- Evaluating, selecting & curating inclusive collections that acknowledge and celebrate diverse experiences and create a community of lifelong readers.
- Managing 1:1 technology devices and supporting educational technology.
- Striving to create a library that is a vital and active center of learning to support students and families.
- Matching students, families and staff to needed resources.
- Serving as content area experts in research and inquiry, curriculum development, instruction and technology integration.
