The Nevada Treasury is hosting Prepaid Tuition Program information sessions in Henderson and Reno this week. The sessions will be open to the public, as the Treasury provides information about the program and other resources available to help families plan, save, and pay for postsecondary education.
The Southern Nevada session will be held Thursday, April 3, at the Paseo Verde Library (280 S. Green Valley Pkwy, Henderson, NV 89012) from 5 to 7 p.m., while the Northern Nevada session will be held Saturday, April 5, at the South Valleys Library (15650 Wedge Parkway, Reno, NV 89511) from 12:30 to 5 p.m.
Nevada Prepaid Tuition is a structured savings plan that offers families flexibility with five different plans and four different payment options. The Open Enrollment Period for Prepaid Tuition ends on April 15. Those who enroll now will automatically be entered to win $1,000 towards their plan. Additionally, at the end of Open Enrollment, one lucky new enrollee will be awarded a grand prize of a two-year community college contract valued at $6,900.
“Our goal is to assist Nevada families in navigating the process of planning, saving, and paying for higher education,” said Dr. Tya Mathis-Coleman, Deputy Treasurer of College Savings at the Nevada Treasury. “These sessions provide a valuable opportunity to begin the conversation around the importance of postsecondary education with our knowledgeable program managers.”
In addition to Prepaid Tuition, the Nevada Treasury offers a variety of other college savings options, such as 529 plans, that accept enrollment year-round.
