Plumas Bank has donated $30,000 to support financial literacy initiatives and small business development across the communities it serves. Through contributions of $5,0000 each to six organizations, the funding will help provide financial education, entrepreneurial guidance, and economic development resources to small businesses throughout northern California and northern Nevada.

Financial literacy remains a critical foundation for sustainable business growth. By partnering with organizations that provide education, mentorship, and financial resources, Plumas Bank continues its commitment to strengthening local economies and supporting entrepreneurs in rural and underserved communities.

“Financial literacy plays an important role in helping businesses and communities succeed,” said Jack Prescott, the chief banking officer at Plumas Bank. “As a community bank with deep ties to the regions we serve, we are proud to support organizations that provide entrepreneurs and small business owners with the knowledge and resources they need to grow and thrive.”

Elizabeth Wainscoat, VP, Truckee Business Advisor and Branch Manager with Jessica Carr, Director Sierra Business Council.

Plumas Bank’s donations will directly support the following organizations and their efforts to expand financial education and economic opportunity:

Sierra Business Council

With a mission to enhance the Sierra Nevada region through community empowerment, environmental stewardship, and economic development, Sierra Business Council will use Plumas Bank’s funding to expand financial literacy support for small businesses and entrepreneurs.

Rural Community Assistance Corp (RCAC)

RCAC, a nonprofit CDFI, provides technical and financial assistance to Indigenous and rural communities. Plumas Bank’s partnership will enhance RCAC’s training and advocacy programs, supporting communities with populations under 50,000.

Superior California Economic Development (SCED)

SCED supports entrepreneurs by offering business loans, commercial real estate financing, and economic development planning. Plumas Bank’s contribution will bolster SCED’s efforts to grow businesses and create jobs in northern California by expanding financing options and providing vital financial literacy resources.

3CORE, Inc.

A federally recognized Economic Development District and Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), 3CORE focuses on economic development and small business support through no-cost financial education, business mentoring, and lending programs. Plumas Bank’s donation will further 3CORE’s mission of helping small businesses scale and thrive in northern California.

Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN)

EDAWN collaborates with investors and partners to diversify the Greater Reno-Sparks-Tahoe economy and create quality jobs. Plumas Bank’s support will enhance EDAWN’s financial literacy initiatives and economic development programs, such as the recently launched Building Entrepreneurial Support Together Initiative, a new program designed to help more grassroots, community-driven entrepreneurship events happen across Northern Nevada.

Nevada Small Business Development Center (Nevada SBDC)

Serving Washoe and Carson City, Nevada SBDC provides guidance and resources for entrepreneurs seeking to start or grow their businesses. Plumas Bank’s donation will support expanded educational programs and financial literacy resources. The announcement comes ahead of SBDC Day on March 18, 2026, a national campaign celebrating the impact of Small Business Development centers on local economies and entrepreneurs. Nevada SBDC will mark the occasion with events in Reno and Las Vegas, highlighting the businesses and advisors who help drive Nevada’s economy forward.

Plumas Bank leadership remains actively involved with many of these organizations, with employees serving on boards and collaborating closely to support their missions. Reinvesting in the communities where it operates has been a cornerstone of the bank’s approach since its founding.

This year’s contributions come as Plumas Bank celebrates its 45th anniversary, continuing its mission of making banking both personal and powerful for the businesses, individuals, and communities it serves.
