All CHS FBLA students who placed top 10 in an event.

The Carson High School (CHS) Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) team demonstrated their talent at the recent Nevada State Business Leadership Conference, earning five state champion titles and qualifying 18 additional students for the FBLA National Business Leadership Conference to be held in Anaheim, Calif., this coming June. Additionally, two CHS FBLA students were elected to State officer positions: Kyle Allen as Northern Region Vice President and Nasia Perkins as Vice President of Membership.

Any student placing in any of the top four spots qualified them for the National Business Leadership Conference. Of the 18 students who qualified for Nationals, five of them were state champions. Claire DillonIvy Dillon and Tommy Lance were named State Champions in the Event of Broadcast Journalism, Kennedy Nolan was named State Champion in the Event of Future Business Educator and Alexis Ropp was named State Champion in the Event of Impromptu Speaking.

Carson High students were just a small fraction of the more than 700 FBLA students in attendance from across Nevada. A total of 42 CHS students competed among some of the 85 competitive business-industry events including performance events, speaking events, case study events and projects like Business Financial Plan, as well as knowledge tests.

CHS students Julia Aquino, Elizabeth Dao, David Hurst, Nasia Perkins and Allison Shine were recognized as achieving the necessary requirements to be named to the National Business Honor Roll. And four students, Julia Aquino, Elizabeth Dao, Nasia Perkins and Kaden Sa, also received the Erin Hackman Travel Scholarship, which will decrease their cost to attend the National Competition by $100.

In addition to these exciting results, Carson High Government Teacher Angila Golik, was named the Nevada FBLA Advisor of the Year. After 14 years serving as an advisor, she will be retiring from her post and pass the torch on to Carson High Marketing Teacher Cody Downing to serve as the Carson High School FBLA organization primary advisor.
