Ford Motor Company and Capital Ford partnered on Saturday to help raise money in support of Carson City High School as part of Ford’s Drive One 4 UR School program.

Carson City community members put pedals to the metal and helped raise $6,000 for the boys baseball teams at Carson High School by test driving a Ford, Lincoln or Mercury vehicle.

Dick Campagni’s Capital Ford worked with Carson High School to host the one-day event on March 6. Approximately 300 people raced down to Carson High School, and for each participant who came from a unique household, Ford and Capital Ford will donate $20.

Since the start of the program in 2007, Ford’s Drive One 4 UR School program has raised more than $2.3 million for close to 700 high schools across the country and has enabled more than 125,000 people to test drive new Ford vehicles. The monies raised during the Drive One 4 UR School program have helped fund extracurricular activities like sports and band programs, helping to ensure that these programs continue in local communities.

“It was great to see so many people come out and support Carson High School. The day also provided us with a great chance to showcase our outstanding lineup of vehicles in a fun, casual environment,” said Tim Milligan, general manager of Capital Ford.

“During a tough economy school fundraising is hit particularly hard,” said Coach Cody Farnworth. “I’m moved by Ford’s and Capital Ford’s commitment to help our community. The money raised on March 6 will really help out the boys’ baseball teams.
