The Heavenly Ski and Snowboard Foundation will host the Shredtacular Rail Jam event at the American Legion in South Lake Tahoe on Friday, March 11 from 4:30 to 10 p.m.
Open to skiers and snowboarders of all ages, the Shredtacular will be held on a feature built by Rob Giustina of On Course Events. Entry is $20 and includes a goodie bag and a raffle ticket for a chance to win tons of prizes.
“The Shredtacular will be tons of fun for competitors and spectators,” said Travis Chatwin, Foundation Snowboard Team program director. “This is a big fundraiser for our trip to USASA Nationals and we’re super appreciative to Rob for donating his time to host this event.”
The Shredtacular Rail Jam is a fundraiser for the Heavenly Snowboard Team’s upcoming trip to USASA Nationals in Copper Mtn., Colo. In April 2011. The team expects to send around 15 athletes to compete in the national event representing South Lake Tahoe. Event proceeds help fund the trip.
Registration will be held at the American Legion beginning at 4:30pm and is $20. Practice begins at 5pm. Divisions include female, male skier and snowboarder, 12 and under, 13 to 17, and 18 and over. There will also be a Money Jam open to all participants for an additional $10; winner takes half the pot.
The Foundation will serve Alpen Sierra coffee, hot cocoa and bake sale items throughout the event. The barbecue begins at 5:3 pm and items available will be hot dogs, chili dogs, chili, chips, and drinks; combos will be available for a $5 donation to the Foundation. A special thanks to On Course Events, Alpen Sierra, Grocery Outlet, Rip N Willies, Vans, USASA, Steamers and others.
About the Heavenly Ski and Snowboard Foundation
The Heavenly Ski and Snowboard Foundation is committed to facilitating and leading the local community in the development of programs to encourage youth to participate in winter sports, alpine skiing and snowboarding. The HSSF operates independently on donations and fundraisers. In addition to providing a safe skiing and riding experience to those within the foundation, outreach and community involvement also play a big part of the base of the Foundation. Throughout the winter season the HSSF provides scholarships to families whose children would not be able to participate in the race program; hosts a non-race Blue Angels program through the middle school; works with the SOS (Snowboard Outreach Society); works with the Boys and Girls Club of South Lake Tahoe; and organizes multiple events, like the Kinder Kup series, and fundraisers including the annual spring wine gala, Grapes and Gates, at Edgewood.
