The Historical Bently Heritage Distillery in Minden has shuttered its windows and stopped operations, and Bently Heritage has decided to sell the property as well as its long-standing ranch, according to local sources.
Edible Reno-Tahoe Magazine broke the story, stating that Bently Heritage has closed down all operations and both the distillery and the ranch have been put up for sale.
Bently Heritage Distillery took down their Facebook page, but their Instagram page is currently still up, at the time of this publication.
The Bently Heritage Distillery first opened in Feb. 2019, after the Bently’s stepped in to save the historical mill building that was added tot he National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
The Bently companies have long been supporters of farm-to-table enterprises, including growing their own hops for distilling right in the heart of Douglas County.
In 2020, less than a year after opening, they became the first in the nation to achieve a gold certification in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). To achieve this, they focused five years on redesigning the Mill and Creamery to meet “the highest standards of design and environmental responsibility.”
The idea was to preserve everything they possibly could, including cases, original bricks, the original silo roof, and much more.
At this time, it is unknown the price for the properties, or when they will be on the market.
According to the Record Courier, owner Christopher Bently recently purchased an estate in Scotland and a $9.5 million estate in Lake Tahoe.
The Record-Courier also reported that the employees were informed on Tuesday that they would be selling, and were given severance.
Bently Enterprises could not be reached by phone at the time of publication. This is a developing story.
