Carson City, Nev. (Feb. 28, 2025) — Carson High Bowling ended the season undefeated with an 11-0 record and claimed the title of High Desert Interscholastic Bowling Program Champions after defeating Damonte Ranch in the finals Wednesday evening.

Of the nine northern Nevada high schools represented (Carson, Damonte, Douglas, Fernley, Galena, Manogue, North Valleys, Reed and Spanish Springs), there were 166 bowlers in the league. In addition to taking home the honors as the top team, which is something Carson High Bowling has done 18 of the last 22 years, several team members were honored with individual awards.

Shane Shook, senior, received recognition for having the highest scoring average among all male bowlers (218) this season. He was also honored for having the highest combined score in a 3-game series (737).

Khia Dunbar, junior, and Shane Shook earned spots on the All-Star Team with their consistent, dominant performance. The recognition came with a $200 scholarship for each.

Jake Ellis-Cronan, junior, and Khia Dunbar were selected by their coaches as Carson High’s varsity (must be Jr/Sr) bowlers of the year, which earned them a $50 scholarship.

Jack Pedersen and Emilee Elzy, sophomores, were selected by their coaches as the junior varsity (must be Fresh/Soph) bowlers of the year, which would have earned each of them a $50 scholarship. However, once each school has nominated their players of the year, the league forwards the bowler’s info (including nomination notes, performance record, academics, etc.) to an outside panel, who selects just one male and one female to be named the LEAGUE bowlers of the year.

Both Jack and Emilee received this special honor, earning each of them a $1,500 scholarship for their sportsmanship, bowling skills and academics.
