A 31-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 2200 block of E. Long Street for possession of a stolen vehicle and two counts of a prohibited person being in possession of a firearm.
According to the arrest report, Manuel Salvador Gil-Solano was arrested after a utility trailer, valued at $20,000, was stolen from a construction site near the Silver Oak area on Tuesday.
On Thursday, a Lyon County Sheriff’s Deputy called Carson City dispatch advising that the stolen trailer had been spotted in a Carson City grocery store parking lot.
Deputies went to the parking lot and quickly located the trailer, attached to a pickup truck, near the front doors. Deputies waited until the driver was in the vehicle before conducting a traffic stop.
Deputies noted that the trailer had been altered, labels were removed and the wood side walls had been spray painted black.
Gil-Solano told deputies he had picked the trailer up from a friend at a construction site at the Dayton golf course. When deputies showed him surveillance video of the trailer theft, Gil-Solano said he had “many employees” in the construction trades who drove his truck, and someone must have used his truck in the middle of the night without his permission.
Deputies impounded the truck and inside, they found the trailer’s license plate in the back seat along with two handguns.
Gil-Solano admitted to being in the country without documentation, making him prohibited from possessing firearms.
He was arrested without incident.
Bail: $50,000
