Dave Sundstrom, Ambassador for ShelterBox, will be the guest speaker at the next Rotary Club of Carson City meeting. The public is invited to attend the luncheon to learn how ShelterBox helps disaster and conflict affected communities world-wide by providing emergency shelter, essential items and training needed to support families in the long process of rebuilding their lives.
The luncheon meeting takes place, Tuesday, Feb. 24, at noon, in the Brewery Arts Center’s Grand Ballroom. The Brewery Arts Center is located at 449 West King Street in Carson City.
Sundstrom says ShelterBox differs from other disaster aid organizations. “ShelterBox is focused almost solely on shelter and the life-sustaining supplies that people need after a disaster or conflict, supplies that enable them to direct and sustain their own recovery.”
The boxes contain tents, tarps, and household items which allows people to focus on rebuilding their lives. He adds that they make sure they always ready to help. “We store aid in strategic locations around the world so we can get it to the families who need it as quickly as possible.”
ShelterBox partners with Rotary International to collaborate and combine resources to ensure support to more communities in desperate need of help after a disaster. Those interested in attending should email carsoncitynvrotary@gmail.com.
