Aaron Ford, Nevada’s 34th Attorney General, will be the featured speaker at Monday’s Democratic luncheon. He will speak about his recent collaboration with other state attorneys general to challenge the authority of billionaire Elon Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency to access sensitive government data and exercise “virtually unchecked power.” AG Ford argues that government can achieve greater levels of efficiency in compliance with the law and without a loss of compassion.

Since taking office in 2019, AG Ford has made protecting consumers from fraud, scams and anti-competitive practices his top priority. Corporations have been held accountable for their unlawful actions that disadvantage Nevada consumers. By the end of 2024, AG Ford’s Bureau of Consumer Protection secured over $118.5 million in total recoveries on behalf of Nevada consumers, and that is separate from the more than $1.1 billion obtained from drug companies for mitigation of the state’s opioid crisis.

A former legislator, Aaron Ford previously served as both Majority and Minority Leader in the Nevada State Senate. He also spent many years in private practice as a partner at Las Vegas law firms Snell & Wilmer and Eglet Adams. Before entering the practice of law, he helped to shape hundreds of young lives as a public school math teacher.

Growing up, Ford was a participant in Project Upward Bound, a government program that helps low-income and first-generation students to attend college. Ford believes he would not be where he is today if not for Upward Bound because of the additional educational support and mentorship it provided him.

Aaron Ford began his academic career with a scholarship to Texas A&M, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. He went on to earn a Master’s in International Education at George Washington University, then a Juris Doctor and both a Master’s and a Ph.D. in Educational Administration at Ohio State.

Together with his wife Berna, who is also an attorney, he has raised four children: Avery, Devin, Aaron II, and Alexander.

This event is scheduled for 1:00 PM on Monday, February 24th, and can either be attended in person at Carson City’s Seven Grille, inside Max Casino, or online via Zoom.

The presentation will begin after all lunch orders have been taken, around 1:30 PM. Those wishing to be on distribution for luncheon Zoom links and videos should contact Rich Dunn at richdunn@aol.com.

This event is sponsored by the Democratic Central Committee. The Men’s Committee schedules and hosts the presentations, which are open to the public.
