KNVC 95.1 FM, Carson City’s only radio station has been licensed to serve the Carson City Community since March of 2017. In November 2017, through the generosity of Carson Tahoe Hospital and the Brewery Arts Center, KNVC moved its broadcasting studio to the Adams House, a historic building in downtown Carson City.
From its initial broadcast, KNVC volunteers have created programming designed to serve all aspects of our broad community. It has come to pass that Carson Tahoe has a need to sell the Adams House location on Minnesota Street in Carson City where KNVC currently broadcasts. As this is the case, KNVC has opted to start a Capital Campaign to raise the funds needed to purchase Adams House and keep it a public part of our community.
KNVC 95.1 FM Carson City Community Radio was this community’s source for critical information on the Davis Fire this past fall. KNVC provided constant updates on the containment of the fire as well as escape routes and evacuation center information for families and their animals caught in the fire area.
KNVC is part of the Emergency Management Team for Carson City and is the source for news for our citizens in emergencies and natural disasters. We serve the community with locally produced news shows about Carson City, its people and its government.
There is also a wide variety of music available on the station; music that is curated by local broadcasters who live here. This is truly Carson City’s Radio Station and we want to keep this source of news and entertainment uniquely Carson.

Carson Tahoe Hospital is asking $425,000 for the Adams House. At the time of this writing, KNVC has raised approximately $47,000 from anonymous donors. That is a good start but we need to reach out to our community to help us raise the money it will take to make Adams House our permanent broadcasting home.
Built by DeWitt Adams from a Sears & Robuck Catalogue kit in 1922, the 1,200 square foot Craftsman style house was home to the family for generations before being donated to the Carson-Tahoe Hospital Foundation which then lent the use of the space to the Brewery Arts Center for the purpose of promoting the arts.
This campaign starts immediately and will last through June of 2025 with our ultimate goal as the purchase of this historic building. Of course, our team of radio personalities will be doing their part to bring in donations while on the air but we really need the help of the entire community to make this happen.
“KNVC is Carson City’s home for news, music and entertainment.” said Steve Funk, KNVC General Manager. “It is run by members of the Carson City Community for the express purpose of benefiting the families and businesses of our town. Help us keep it live and local.”

For any organizations looking for a speaker, we would be happy to provide someone to come to your group and speak about the role community radio plays in public safety and the arts.
