Another round of storms for Carson City and surrounding counties will bring gusty winds, valley rain and Sierra snow Tuesday with a break Wednesday before another storm arrives Thursday into Friday.
For Tuesday, a Wind Advisory in effect through 10 p.m. Tuesday for much of western Nevada, including the Greater Reno, Carson City and Carson Valley areas.
Forecasters said wind gusts of 55 mph are possible with gusts as high as 65 mph for wind prone areas. The weather service advises the potential for damage to trees and power lines. Lighter winds are expected Wednesday.

Snow will continue over the Sierra above 6,000 feet with periods of rain over western Nevada Tuesday and Wednesday. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect through 7 a.m. Wednesday for the Lake Tahoe Basin with 1 to 3 feet of snow possible above 7,000 feet and 6 to 12 inches below 7,000 feet, according to the weather service.
A more significant and colder system is expected Thursday into Friday with heavy snowfall, strong winds and colder conditions.
Snow levels will come down and close to the valley floors during the Thursday morning commute, which could cause a rain/snow mix that may hinder travel.
At the time of this report, the National Weather Service says snow levels look to come up for the afternoon and evening, changing the valleys below 5,000 feet over to rain, but will tumble back to valley floors by Friday morning. Widespread snow showers will linger into Friday.
