Murder suspect Wilber Ernesto Martinez-Guzman in court Thursday, Jan. 25

District attorneys for Douglas and Washoe counties partnered and released a formal complaint and affidavit Monday against Wilber Ernesto Martinez-Guzman, charging him with murder and burglary.

Martinez-Guzman is currently being held in custody at the Carson City Jail on burglary and possession of stolen property charges.

On Monday, Jan. 28 Carson City deputies received a confirmed felony warrant out of Washoe County for the additional charges. This begins the process of potentially moving Martinez-Guzman from Carson City to Reno to face the murder charges.

The warrant charged Martinez-Guzman with the following:

— Count One: Burglary

— Count Two: Burglary while in possession of a firearm

— Count Three: Murder with the use of a deadly weapon

— Count Four: Burglary while in possession of a firearm

— Count Five: Murder with the use of a deadly weapon

— Count Six: Burglary while in possession of a firearm

— Count Seven: Murder with the use of a deadly weapon

— Count Eight: Murder with the use of deadly weapon

— Count Nine: Burglary while in possession of a firearm

He was rebooked at the Carson City Jail on the additional charges. Bail for Martinez-Guzman was previously set at $500,000 in Carson City, but he is also being held on an immigration charge.

In an unprecedented case, Douglas County and Washoe County will be prosecuting Martinez-Guzman together for the crimes he allegedly committed over the course of six days.

The affidavit details when and how Martinez-Guzman allegedly murdered the four victims in mid January, committing four killings in six days across Gardnerville and Reno.

The affidavit paints a disturbing picture. You can read the full affidavit below.
