In response to community concerns and as part of an ongoing commitment to traffic safety, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit is partnering with the Nevada Highway Patrol to conduct a joint speed enforcement operation on Jan. 28 and 29, 2026.
The enforcement effort will focus on speeding violations in the downtown areas of Minden and Gardnerville, Nevada—areas where residents have expressed concerns about vehicle speeds and pedestrian safety. In addition to patrol units, the Sheriff’s Office will deploy speed radar trailers in targeted locations to collect data and increase driver awareness.
Excessive speed remains a leading factor in traffic collisions and serious injuries. This operation is intended to promote a culture of safe driving for all road users.
