The Charter Review Committee is seeking the public’s input on suggested amendments to the Carson City Charter. To participate, go to carsoncity.gov/charter and fill out the Charter Amendment Suggestion form. The survey will close on Jan. 30, 2026.
The Charter Review Committee is established in Sections 1.080, 1.090, and 1.100 of the Carson City Charter. The committee is required to meet “once every 2 years before the beginning of each regular session of the Legislature” to review and make recommendations to the Board of Supervisors on possible changes to the Charter to be presented to the Legislature. The Charter acts as the constitution of Carson City and can only be amended or repealed by act of the Nevada Legislature.
If the Board accepts the Charter Review Committee’s recommended charter amendments, those proposals will be submitted as a Bill Draft Request for the 84th (2027) Session of the Nevada Legislature.
