— A 51-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 11:11 a.m., at the America’s Best Value Inn, located at 2731 S. Carson St. for the following alleged misdemeanor offenses: Failure to register as a felon, violation of probation, violation of pre-trial supervision, possession of drug paraphernalia, use of a drug with intent to induce euphoria. Total bail: $8,516.

According to the arrest report, the Carson City Sheriff’s Office received information that the suspect was staying at the America’s Best Value Inn. After obtaining information of the suspects ex-felon status and an administrative subpoena it was evident he hadn’t registered his current address.

The arrest report states that the man invited the deputy into his room where in plain sight were several bottles of medication with the man’s name on them.

He claimed to have two teeth extracted and was on medication. Another container was on the bedside table with white powder on top of it and on the bedside table with a hollowed out ink pen with white residue on the inside. The CCSO deputy stated that upon further inspection she could see small pieces of pills, which had been clearly crushed by the pill container.

The directions on the bottle said “to be taken by mouth every 4 to 6 hours, as needed,” and the bottle indicated a three-day supply. The man had a second bottle of Oxycodone, filled by the same doctor.

Before transport to the Carson City Detention Facility dispatch informed the CCSO deputy that the man was on alternative sentencing with several conditions including no possession of drugs, paraphernalia and not allowed to consume alcohol. It was clear, according to the CCSO deputy, that the suspect was using the hollowed out pen to inhale/ingest his narcotic pain medication, using the prescription not as it was prescribed to induce hallucination or euphoria.

Without prompting the suspect stated, “I take all of my medication that way. I can’t take it in my mouth because of my stomach.”
