The spirit of the holiday season filled the Division of Child and Family Services Carson City District Office on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2025, as staff and volunteers organized and prepared donated gifts, school supplies and hygiene products for delivery for the Division’s annual Angel Tree Project.
The Angel Tree Project provides gifts to children, ages newborn to 18, who have come into foster care in rural Nevada. The Carson City District office covers Carson City, Douglas and Storey counties.
These kids may live in a foster home, group homes, with relatives, a family friend, therapeutic facilities or have been newly returned to their birth families. This year the Division provided wishes to over 100+ children.
Although many children wished for toys and games, some requested other items, such as school supplies, gift cards, socks and toiletries. DCFS’s Angel Tree’s Project goal is to provide each child with three wishes (gifts) as well as some extra magic to go into their stockings.

2025 Angel Tree Project donors include: Dr. Merrit Dunlap’s office, Sarah Ferris and the State of Nevada Cinderella Girls, KBCA LLC, Common Ground Church, Madole Construction, Classic Dash, Carson City Costco, Bureau of Disability Adjudication, Seeliger Elementary School & Karen Shaffer, TLC Restoration LTD, Alignlife South Reno, Kaia FIT & Tumbleweeds Gymnastics, the Governor’s Finance Office, Nevada Health Authority, Amber Willey & Life Church (Life Group), Cameron Vandenberg and the State of Nevada’s Attorney General’s Office.
“We are so grateful to our generous donors, volunteers, and dedicated staff who come together each year to make the Angel Tree Project a huge success,” said Sheila Guzzetta, Angel Tree Project Coordinator. “Their compassion and commitment ensure that children in our community experience the joy and magic of the holiday season.
Knowing the joy these children will experience on Christmas morning is a powerful reminder of what the season is truly about — kindness, hope, and the spirit of giving.”
The Division serves Nevada’s 15 rural counties: Carson, Churchill, Douglas, Elko, Esmeralda, Eureka, Humboldt, Lander, Lincoln, Lyon, Mineral, Nye, Pershing, Storey and White Pine. Each district office hosts their own Angel Tree Project.
