Happy New Year! From the 50th Reunion Carson High Class of 1971.

We all have class reunions, and my 50th was this year. When you are younger, it is more of a competition rally of who is who and what you have accomplished. For some this can leave a bad taste, and many may not return to their next one.

Your 50th reunion is different and one that everyone, if you are fortunate enough to live this long, should not miss. It is not a judgmental time; it is a time to be appreciative and to be thankful that you have an opportunity
to attend and come together as one. Have we changed? Of course! Many of us have known each other since Grammar School. You may think that you will remember no one or them you; but you will be surprised. What you do recognize is a smile, their eyes or voice & this is part of the experience. Enjoy it & Embrace the Moment!

It is no secret that we are all getting older, and at this time in our lives we all are in a phase that none of us could imagine. We have all lost loved ones, spouses, or friends; and many have been or are going through illnesses. For some, we are now grandparents or great grandparents, and we all have lived life and been through world crisis’s that we could not have imagined when we were younger. This gives us common ground to reunite those old friendships or create new ones.

It was a wonderful experience to see all the Classmates who traveled from near and far. Each night we averaged 100-Covid Free people. It was an honor to be part of the committee that pulled this together:
(shown from left to right in the photo) Vicki Sheldrew Hass, Claudia Jones-Jones, Roberta Adams Bishop,
Toni Westbrook VanCleave, and myself~ Doreen Giurlani Mack. It was a time that none of us will forget.

A Special Thank You to the following establishments who made our event possible with great food and music:
• Terri McNutt at Silver Oaks Club House for Hosting Friday Nights Dinner
• Music by our our very own classmate Mike Rodriquez’s “The Robin Street Band”,
• Rowan & Suzanne at The Pour House for Saturday Nights Event at Telegraph Square, they collaborated
w/Tee Jay’s Corner & Juan’s Mexican Grill on Telegraph Square
• Music by: John Eldridge.

My husband, Lloyd Mack, was a teacher for this class and called it a spiritual time. I could not have agreed more. FYI we did not meet in school, I was 28 when we were married, that’s another story!

Wishing You All a New Year that is Filled With Love, Peace, Kindness & Prosperity…
God Bless, Doreen
