Eagle Valley Middle School hosted its first College and Career Day this afternoon, bringing together more than 30 community partners, industry professionals and families to help students explore future pathways.
The event was designed to provide students with hands-on exposure to a variety of careers and educational opportunities while connecting classroom learning to real-world experiences. Representatives from local organizations and agencies, along with invited guests from the Nevada Department of Education, participated.

Throughout the day, students engaged directly with presenters, asked questions and learned about potential career interests. The afternoon session also invited families to join, expanding the experience beyond the school day and encouraging conversations at home about students’ goals and aspirations.
“We are incredibly grateful for the support from our community,” said event organizer and sixth grade STEM Teacher Katelyn O’Loughlin. “This event was about helping students discover their interests, build connections and feel inspired about their future.”
School leaders said the event reflected a broader effort to prepare students for success beyond middle school by exposing them early to college and career possibilities.
Eagle Valley staff noted that the strong participation from community members highlighted a shared commitment to investing in students and creating meaningful opportunities for them to learn, explore and grow.
Organizations interested in attending next year’s event should contact Katelyn O’Loughlin atkoloughlin@carson.k12.nv.us to be added to the invite list.
