Located at 411 Hot Springs Road, Tazmanian Boxing Club is Carson’s own nonprofit boxing gym led by ex-professional bantamweight boxer Coach Cisco Rodriguez.

“After hanging up his career gloves, Cisco had a burning desire to help his communities at-risk youth,” a spokesperson wrote. “He started this by inviting local kids to his home to teach them proper boxing techniques and to get them off the streets during evening hours. Shortly after that, Cisco had so many kids attending that he decided to make a go of offering his workouts in a boxing gym.”

Proceeds are used to get youth boxers to and from competitions and tournaments, among other programs.

The program isn’t only for kids though; beginning January 6, they are offering a New Years Cardio Boxing Boot Camp for boxers of all levels (or boxers-to-be!), which will include a fitness challenge complete with cash prize!

The cost is $100 for the boot camp, and the fitness challenge has an entrance fee of $25, winner takes all. The challenge is not mandatory to participate in the boot camp, however.

The boot camp will span for six weeks, taking place Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m.

To join, contact Jessi (775) 842-2627 or show up January 6 to enroll.

In addition, they also offer training for individual’s with Parkinson’s Disease by partnering with Rock Steady Boxing Northern Nevada.

Rock Steady is for people with Parkinson’s Disease and is one of the 840+ Rock Steady Boxing Affiliates in the world.
